The image that "twin relationships are difficult" has become a completely outdated relic.
Of course, that's certainly true if you're riding a twin fin made 40 years ago.
However, from that time on, the materials and designs of the boards,
All elements have evolved, including the fin foil and mounting position.
Without experiencing it, they blindly accept things based on past experiences and hearsay.
If you are speaking with a know-it-all attitude, it's time to change that.
I like twin fin boards and ride them a lot.
This board especially makes me feel that way.
This time I will not go into the history of twin fins, but
For even greater performance than traditional single fins
The fact is that twin fins have appeared.
It was later replaced by the Tri-Fin, which was developed by Simon Anderson.
Twin fins are making a comeback with the boom in alternative boards.
Today's twin fins offer the same stability as tri-fins.
It has the advantage of being easier to increase the amount and speed of water flowing along the bottom than a tri-fin.
In that sense, it can perform better than a tri-fin.
This will become a characteristic of modern twin fins.
The length I ordered for the Twin Flyer Pin model is:
The size is 6'2, the same as the twin fins from another brand I used previously.
Other widths and thicknesses will be decided by DVS.
I can focus solely on the requirements of the board I'm ordering.
The twin fins I used before also performed well.
Unfortunately, it had the disadvantage of being prone to lack of stability inside the tube.
The board was also carved by a famous shaper.
It was made 15 to 20 years ago.
I just wasn't mature enough with twin fins yet.
So we need to improve that part,
The material specified was EPS to improve paddle and buoyancy.
EPS is not very familiar in the alternative board world.
DVS is adept at handling this material.
I decided what to order without any worries.
Four months have passed since then, and the shipment of the boards has been delayed due to the coronavirus.
The Twin Flyer Pin model I custom ordered has arrived safely.
My impression when holding the board is that it is surprisingly wide and the deck is quite flat.
The nose rocker is normal, but the tail rocker is raised just enough.
The concave starts just behind the nose, but is quite wide and deep overall.
The tail is a slightly pin-shaped round pintail.
It has a very sharp retro single fin-like wing.
And the coloring on the bottom is wonderful and beautiful.
Even though it is an EPS board, the quality of the finish is exactly the same as with poly.
When it comes to the DVS domain, analyzing each individual element is meaningless.
I immediately decided to take it for a test drive.
The waves for the beginners were a typical type of beach break that was wind-affected and twisted.
The wave quality wasn't that good, so I thought, "First, let's check how the paddle works..."
I didn't have high expectations.
However, you can be able to ride and rip right from the first wave.
This is the true essence of the surfboards that DVS makes.
I wondered why this was the case, but the board and the included fins were perfectly matched.
The deep concave from the single makes it easier to float the lightweight EPS material.
This is inferred from the impression of riding it.
EPS material is a little harder than PU.
I got used to it after the first round, just like with other boards.
From the second round onwards, you can surf without being conscious of the texture of the material at all.
Focusing on the impression after takeoff
Of course, the fins are close to the rail side, so they respond well.
The tail wing further enhances the reaction.
To take it to the extreme, you can turn and rip just by looking at the board.
If your shoulders are facing the shoulders, the board will rise automatically.
When the bottom hits the lip, the board will turn over on its own.
If you set the rail on the shoulder, the board will accelerate automatically.
If you look back, the board will cut back automatically.
When you ride this board, you can surf with just your mind as a surfer.
It is very close to the feeling of Halstubby and others.
The sharpness of the action is exactly the same as that of a shortboard.
The belly button is where the board sinks when waiting for waves.
It moves in the same way as a board with low buoyancy that sinks up to the chest and solar plexus for the same weight.
The fully edged bottom also ensures stability inside the tube.
In other words, if you ride this Twin Flyer Pin model
The reason for the existence of a typical shortboard would be completely lost.
I recommend this model to all surfers.
Especially short borders who are currently struggling
Started surfing on a shortboard
I would highly recommend this to anyone currently riding a different board.
I wonder what I was like up until now.
It's certain that you'll level up in no time.
The joy of surfing starts with choosing a good board.
You can see that DVS is a brand that is created with this exact focus.
