An original design by George Greenough, the Power Blade pushes the boundaries of modern single fin surfboards. After years of careful material selection, exhaustive testing, redesign and unique flex pattern construction, the Power Blade was born with the potential to rival the performance characteristics of a thruster.
The most important design aspect of the Power Blade is its ability to bend and "twist" at the "head" of the fin. This characteristic creates "variable traction" similar to a thruster, allowing the tail of the board to follow the nose to generate thrust. In a sense it acts like a fish's tail, bending and twisting back and forth to generate thrust based on direction and angle of attack. The narrow base minimizes hydraulic resistance, allowing for considerable responsiveness, speed and maneuverability in a single fin.
Ultimately, the Power Blade met three clear and exacting requirements in a single fin: stiffness where it was needed, specific flex characteristics, and torsional ability.
