Jed, who lives in South Australia, is a shaper with nearly 30 years of experience, but the turning point in his career was when he worked on the fish of the genius Derek Hind. Jed's career, which began with kneeboards, was further refined by working on boards for not only Derek Hind, but also Burton Lynch and Tom Carroll. He is now a true originator, with unparalleled techniques such as woodwork and flex tails. The area where he lives includes the famous Bells Beach, and he himself has a surf career that has taken him to big wave spots in other countries. This board is a step-up 1+2 specification that he worked on.
Jed's surfboard production starts with foaming and pressing the foam himself. The double stringers and nose/tail blocks used in this board provide the durability required for big waves and significantly extend the life of the board. The wood blocks are made of 100-year-old redwood with high hardness, which requires even more advanced processing techniques. It has a fairly strong nose rocker while maintaining the thickness required for paddle power, tapered rails and tail volume, and a fairly delicate single-double-reverse vee concave that takes into account the effects of large waves. Given the current deterioration of air freight distribution, it is a great opportunity to have this board, which usually takes 10 weeks to deliver, available immediately.
The condition of the board is that there are foot marks on the deck from a few rounds of use, scratches on various parts of the board due to use, and dents on the rails that prevent water from entering, but it can be used as is without repair. This is exactly the kind of board you need to ride the waves that will be the monumental milestone of your surfing fins.
