Koz McRae grew up in Santa Barbara surrounded by his uncle who was a shaper and George Greenough who made boats on the roadside. After a life of partying, he decided to become a shaper and studied under fellow townsman Ryan Lovelace. His surfboards, which incorporate various tastes from the 1960s to 1980s when America was in its prime, are now rapidly gaining popularity.
The 2 3/8 Side Bite is his original template and is adapted for hulls and mid-length side fins. The wide base width and slightly thick shape provide both acceleration and rotation.
