True Ames has been making high quality surfboard fins since 1979 and is a huge presence in the current alternative board world. The Power Glide 45 incorporates many of the same elements as its predecessor, the Power Blade, but is a more refined, approachable, and user-friendly fin.
Working closely with George Greenough, the Powerglide 45 has been modified in outline to incorporate more rake, more flex, and a softer curve. The "45" in the design's title aptly refers to the rake that appears to be approaching a 45° angle (the actual rake is 32°, 9° more than its predecessor, the Powerblade). The additional rake in this fin allows for a more generous turning radius and a little more forgiveness overall, and so named "Powerglide" this fin holds a line in bigger, smoother arcing turns. In addition to the added rake, this fin has a larger overall surface area than the Powerblade, making it even more stable and confident underfoot. Finally, the Powerglide 45 also has a larger amount of flex for a responsive and adaptable performance. The overall goal was to provide a product that was easy to handle and applicable to a wide range of uses/surfing conditions.
