Matt Grote, based in Hermosa Beach, California, started skateboarding at age 5 and surfing at age 11. When he moved to San Francisco, he met Mark Andreini, who taught him about surfing history, the world of alternative boards, and shaping. His boards, influenced by various surfers from the shortboard revolution era, are a must-see in California today.

This board is based on the kneeboard of Chris Block, who is close friends with George Greenough , and has an edge bottom derived from Greenough. The distinctive spoon deck is a design derived from Greenough's spoon, and has the effect of lowering the center of gravity and increasing stability. 50 years have passed since the release of the movie Crystal Voyager, and the riding linked to the excitement of the audience at that time is revived.

There are some signs of wear such as small scratches and swim fin marks on the deck, but the bottom appears clean and can be used as is.
