Koz McRae grew up in Santa Barbara surrounded by his uncle who was a shaper and George Greenough who made boats on the roadside. After a life of partying, he decided to become a shaper and studied under fellow townsman Ryan Lovelace. His surfboards, which incorporate various tastes from the 1960s to 1980s when America was in its prime, are now rapidly gaining popularity.
The Mistress has been Koz's favorite model for the past few seasons. The board is 7-8 feet long with a wide back edge, and the bottom water flow is discharged from the roll entry to the tail vee. The pinch rails and flat deck allow for quick response and surfing with less leg power. The paddle is fast, works in all waves from knee to overhead, and has quick turns and trimming capabilities. This board is a custom board with full resin color work using a stringerless blank.
It shows signs of heavy use, professional repairs mainly on the bottom (the surface is flat), some small scratches and a dent near the fin box, but it is usable as is.
